Flowye Licensing System – Terms & Privacy
Last updated: 16 June 2025
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: What is the Flowye Licensing System and who is it for?
A: It’s a Unity Editor plugin made by Dummics (a solo developer based in Italy) to protect VRChat avatars from unauthorized sharing. It’s used by Creators who sell avatars, and End Users who buy them. Creators enter a direct license with Dummics; End Users get a usage license automatically when they buy an avatar that includes the system.
Q: What does a Creator License allow? Can I use it on multiple avatars?
A: Each Creator License is for one specific avatar project only. If you want to protect multiple avatars, you need separate licenses. The plugin is integrated into your avatar by Dummics and must not be shared or reused across projects. Tampering with the plugin is strictly forbidden.
Q: Do End Users need to pay or sign anything?
A: No. If you’re buying an avatar, you don’t pay anything extra or sign anything with Dummics. Your End User License is automatic. You just follow the Creator’s activation steps (like logging in or entering a code). Just use the avatar on your own VRChat account and don’t share it.
Q: What info does the plugin collect, and why?
A: Only what’s needed to verify your license: VRChat username/ID and device identifiers like IP or hardware ID. These are hashed and anonymized right away. No personal files, chat logs, or analytics are collected. It’s all about preventing piracy – that’s it.
Q: Is my data secure?
A: Yes. Everything is encrypted, and identifiers are never stored in raw form. No data is sold or tracked. Servers are hosted in the United States with SparkedHost , following GDPR-friendly practices . Contact us if you ever have concerns.
Q: What’s not allowed? (For Creators and End Users)
A: Don’t share or modify the plugin. Don’t try to disable it.
- Creators must have a license for each avatar and can’t reuse the plugin across avatars or give it to others.
- End Users can’t upload the avatar to multiple accounts or share it with people who haven’t bought it.
Q: What if someone breaks the rules or pirates an avatar?
A: The plugin can detect violations and block access.
- End Users who tamper with the system lose access permanently.
- Creators who misuse the plugin may be banned from using it, which affects their avatars.
No refunds are issued for rule-breakers. In serious cases, legal action may follow.
Q: Can the Terms or license model change?
A: Yes – (for Creators) you’ll get clear notice. Right now, Creators pay a one-time fee per avatar. If that changes (e.g. subscription model), Creators will get 30 days’ notice via Discord or other contact methods.
Introduction
Welcome to the Flowye Licensing System ! This is a software plugin for the Unity Editor (compatible with Unity 2022.3.22f1) designed to help VRChat Avatar Creators protect their work through a license activation system. In other words, the plugin allows an Avatar Creator to embed a license check into their VRChat avatar package so that only people who purchased the avatar (the End Users) can use and upload it. The system is provided by Dummics (“we” or “us”), who is the developer and service provider of the plugin.
This document – “Flowye Licensing System – Terms & Privacy” – is a unified Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. It outlines the terms and conditions under which the plugin is provided and must be used, and it also explains how we handle data within the plugin’s operation. We have written this document in clear language so that both avatar Creators and End Users can understand their rights and responsibilities.
Roles: In these Terms, we distinguish between two main roles:
- Creators – the individuals or entities who license the Flowye Licensing System plugin to include it in the avatars they create and sell.
- End Users – the customers who buy those avatar packages and use the plugin to activate the avatars on their own VRChat accounts.
Only Creators enter into a direct contract with Dummics by purchasing and using the plugin in their projects. However, End Users are also subject to certain terms when they use an avatar that contains the plugin (for example, they must use it only if they purchased the avatar legitimately and follow the activation rules). By using the Flowye Licensing System – whether you are a Creator integrating it or an End User activating an avatar – you agree to the terms set out in this document. If you do not agree, you must not use the plugin or any avatar that incorporates it.
Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and the Privacy Policy, we use a few key defined terms:
- Dummics – The individual (solo developer) or any affiliated entity providing the Flowye Licensing System plugin and related services. (“Flowye,” “we,” “us,” or “our” may be used interchangeably in this document.)
- Plugin (or Flowye Licensing System ) – The proprietary Unity Editor add-on provided by Dummics that enables licensing and protection of VRChat avatar packages. It is a closed-source, obfuscated software tool designed to be integrated into a Creator’s Unity project for an avatar.
- Avatar Package – A complete VRChat avatar project prepared by a Creator for sale or distribution, including all models, textures, Unity files, and other assets. The Flowye Licensing System plugin is integrated into this package for licensing purposes.
- Creator – An individual or entity who obtains a License from Dummics to incorporate the plugin into one of their Avatar Packages. The Creator is typically the seller of the avatar and is responsible for ensuring that End Users of that avatar comply with these Terms (as well as any additional terms the Creator may impose on their customers).
- End User – An individual who purchases or otherwise legitimately obtains an Avatar Package from a Creator and uses the plugin to activate and upload that avatar to their own VRChat account. End Users are the customers who benefit from the licensing protection (they get a secure product and proof of ownership). End Users do not directly contract with Dummics, but by using an avatar with the plugin, they agree to abide by the relevant parts of these Terms.
- License – A permission granted by Dummics under these Terms to use the plugin. We distinguish between two types of Licenses:
- Creator License: the rights granted to a Creator to have the plugin integrated into one specific Avatar Package. This is obtained by paying the applicable fee to Flowye and is essentially a license for that one avatar project.
- End User License: the rights granted to an End User to use the plugin’s functionality to activate and use the avatar they purchased from the Creator. This is a sub-License that flows from the Creator’s License for that avatar. It is granted automatically (without additional fees) to each legitimate purchaser of the avatar.
- License Key / Activation Code – A unique code used for verification and activation of an avatar. An End User will always receive a Key to activate in the project. (At present, Creators don’t receive a generic “plugin key” themselves; Dummics handles the integration and verification setup on the backend.
- VRChat – The online virtual reality platform for which these avatars are designed. A VRChat account (with a user ID and display name) is required for an End User to upload and use the avatar in question. We reference VRChat to explain certain requirements (e.g., the license ties to a VRChat user ID).

License Grant and Scope for Creators
Subject to the Creator paying the agreed License fee and complying with these Terms, Dummics grants the Creator a non-exclusive, non-transferable, one-time Creator License to integrate and use the Flowye Licensing System plugin in one specified avatar project :
- This Creator License allows the plugin to be embedded into one VRChat avatar package owned by the Creator, which they intend to distribute to End Users. Each avatar project requires its own Creator License. If the Creator wants to protect multiple avatars with the plugin, they must purchase a separate License (and pay the applicable fee) for each additional avatar package.
- The Creator License covers use of the plugin within the Unity Editor environment and solely for the purpose of setting up licensing for the specified avatar. The plugin may only be used with supported Unity versions (currently Unity 2022.3.22f1 or later, as required by VRChat at the time of writing). Use of the plugin with incompatible Unity versions or outside the intended scope is not covered by the License.
- Integration and Delivery: Creators do not receive the plugin as a stand-alone Unity asset or source code file to freely import. Instead, Dummics will work with the Creator to integrate the plugin into the Creator’s project. Typically, Dummics will either manually install the plugin components or provide guidance and custom files to ensure it is properly implemented and secured. This process ensures the plugin is correctly set up for that avatar and helps maintain the integrity of the licensing system. (In short, you get the plugin in your project, but you won’t have a raw package to reuse elsewhere without permission.)
- The Creator License is presently provided on a one-time fee basis (i.e. a single purchase for lifetime use in that avatar project). Re-installation or updates of the plugin for that same avatar due to technical issues, bug fixes, or required compatibility updates (for example, if VRChat or Unity updates necessitate changes) will be provided by Dummics at no extra charge to the original Creator of that avatar (with limitations). However, if the Creator requests repeated changes or re-integrations of the plugin for non-essential reasons – e.g. if you significantly update your avatar or make variations that require re-licensing – Dummics reserves the right to charge a reasonable additional fee for the extra work at our discretion. We will always communicate with you about any such charges in advance.
- Future Licensing Model Changes: At the moment, a Creator License is a one-off purchase. Flowye may in the future change the licensing structure for the plugin (for example, moving to a subscription model or implementing recurring fees for updates or support). If that happens, it will be communicated in advance to all Creators. Existing Creators will be given options – for instance, transitioning to the new model or continuing under the terms that applied at their original purchase for existing avatars – in compliance with any agreements or promises made. These Terms will be updated to reflect any new model. (We mention this to be transparent: there are no current subscription requirements, but this could evolve as the product grows, always with notice.)
- The Creator License grants the Creator the right to distribute the plugin only as an integrated part of the licensed Avatar Package and only to End Users who are legitimate purchasers of that avatar. The Creator does not obtain ownership of the plugin itself, nor any right to use it outside of the agreed avatar project. Dummics retains all rights not expressly granted. In essence, you’re borrowing our tool to include in your product – you can’t extract it, reuse it in other projects without permission, or claim it as your own.
License Grant and Scope for End Users
When an End User purchases or otherwise legitimately obtains an avatar package that includes the Flowye Licensing System, they are automatically granted an End User License to use the plugin for the sole purpose of activating and using that avatar on VRChat :
- The End User License is free , personal, non-transferable, and non-exclusive. It gives the End User the right to use the plugin only to verify their purchase of the avatar and to activate/upload that avatar to one VRChat account (the End User’s own account).
- The End User License is included with the avatar purchase — there is no separate fee for the plugin’s use by the End User. End Users do not need to obtain a License key or activation code directly from Dummics, the necessary activation mechanism will be provided as part of the avatar package (via a License key provided by the Creator that you enter in Unity).
- Under this License, an End User may use the plugin within the Unity Editor as instructed by the Creator’s documentation. For example, you might import the avatar package into Unity, and during the process of preparing to upload the avatar to VRChat, the plugin will prompt you to authenticate (such as by entering a key or logging in to confirm you own the avatar). The End User is allowed to perform this activation step and thereby unlock the avatar for uploading to their VRChat account.
- This End User License is limited strictly to enabling the End User’s use of the purchased avatar . It does not give the End User any ownership or independent rights to the plugin software itself. The End User is not permitted to extract, copy, or use the plugin for any purpose other than the activation of the avatar they bought, nor can they use it with any other avatar or project.
- The End User’s License to use the plugin continues for as long as that End User has a legitimate right to use the avatar. If the End User’s right to the avatar ends – for example, if they refund the purchase (per the Creator’s refund policy), if the sale is revoked, or if the End User is found violating these Terms or the Creator’s own terms resulting in a ban/removal of their license – then the End User’s permission to use the plugin for that avatar will terminate automatically . In practical terms, if you lose your rights to the avatar, the plugin will no longer authorize you to upload or use it.
Creator Responsibilities and Prohibited Actions
Creators who use the Flowye Licensing System agree to the following rules and responsibilities. These ensure that the system works fairly and that the plugin is used as intended:
Permitted Actions for Creators:
- Integration and Use in Licensed Avatar: Creators may integrate the plugin into the specific avatar package for which they have purchased a Creator License. This integration is done with Dummics’s direct assistance or guidance, to ensure it’s done correctly. Creators can use the plugin in Unity for that project to set up license checks as needed.
- Distribution to Legitimate Customers: Creators are allowed to distribute the protected avatar package (with the plugin included) to End Users via their chosen marketplace or storefront (e.g., Gumroad, Payhip), provided that each recipient is a legitimate purchaser. The plugin must remain intact in the distributed package, and Creators should communicate to their customers (End Users) that the avatar uses a licensing system that will require activation. Essentially, you can sell your avatar normally, just make sure buyers know they’ll need to activate it and that they are getting a licensed copy.
- Marketing Disclosure: Creators should inform prospective buyers that their avatar is protected by the Flowye Licensing System. For example, you can include in your product description that “this avatar uses the Flowye Licensing System for license protection” so that users are aware of the activation step. You may also use Dummics’s name in a factual way to explain the protection (however, please do not imply that Dummics or Dummics’s brand endorses your avatar beyond providing the licensing tool).
- Support and Reporting: Creators can contact Dummics for support related to the plugin. If you encounter technical problems with the integration or activation system, Dummics will assist. Creators are also encouraged to report to Dummics any suspected License violations or leaks (for example, if you discover your avatar package has been shared illegally). We will work with you to investigate and take appropriate measures, like revoking licenses or updating security, to protect your content.
Prohibited Actions for Creators:
- Unlicensed Use: Do not use the Flowye Licensing System in any avatar project for which you haven’t obtained a License. Each project requires its own Creator License from Dummics. Copying the plugin from one project to another, or reusing any part of it without approval, is a breach of these Terms.
- Redistribution of the Plugin: Creators may not share, sell, sublicense, or distribute the plugin on its own, or as part of any product other than the licensed avatar package. The plugin is proprietary to Dummics. You are not allowed to extract it from your project and give it to anyone else, include it in a tool collection, or otherwise distribute it except when it’s embedded in the licensed avatar package going to your legitimate End Users.
- Reverse Engineering or Tampering: Creators are strictly prohibited from reverse-engineering, decompiling, disassembling, or tampering with the Flowye Licensing System plugin. The plugin’s code is deliberately obfuscated to safeguard its licensing and security mechanisms. Any attempt to bypass, disable, or alter these mechanisms including copying the DLL or scripts into another project without prior authorization is a violation of the License Terms.
These contractual restrictions apply within the bounds of applicable law. In particular, under Article 64-bis and following of Italian Law No. 633/1941 , certain acts of software analysis (e.g., for interoperability or security purposes) may be legally permitted. Nothing in this agreement shall be interpreted as prohibiting such lawful uses. However, unauthorized copying, redistribution, or use of the plugin outside the licensed scope remains strictly forbidden and may also constitute a legal violation.
- Circumventing the System: Do not remove or disable the plugin’s licensing check in the avatar package you distribute. For instance, you should not provide an alternate version of the avatar to someone that has the licensing disabled, and you should not advise End Users on how to get around the activation. The protection is there for a reason – helping someone go around it (or doing so yourself) defeats the purpose and breaches this agreement.
- License Transfers: The Creator’s rights under the Creator License are specific to them and the designated avatar project. You may not transfer or “sell” your Creator License to someone else without Dummics’s written consent. If you sell or assign the entire avatar project to a new owner (for example, you sell the avatar rights to another creator), that new owner must contact Dummics to arrange a new License in their name. Licenses are not automatically transferable with asset sales.
- Excessive Reuse of Support: While Dummics will support Creators and update the plugin integration as needed, Creators should not abuse this by asking for constant changes or re-integrations without good reason. Minor version updates of your avatar are fine, but if you drastically change your project or frequently need re-installation that’s not due to a plugin fault, additional fees might apply (as noted earlier). Plan your projects accordingly and consult Dummics if major changes might affect the licensing.
Consequences: If a Creator fails to uphold these responsibilities or engages in prohibited actions, Dummics reserves the right to suspend or terminate the Creator’s License and access to the plugin. This is detailed under Enforcement and Penalties below. Creators are expected to work in good faith with the licensing system – it exists to protect your content, and respecting the plugin’s rules is part of the deal in using it.
End User Responsibilities and Prohibited Actions
End Users who activate and use avatars protected by the Flowye Licensing System also have to follow some rules to ensure everything works fairly and as intended:
Permitted Actions for End Users:
- Personal Activation and Use: End Users may use the plugin only for its intended purpose – to activate the avatar they have legitimately purchased and upload it to their own VRChat account. You will typically do this by entering a License key provided and by logging in via the VRChat SDK interface within Unity (the Creator should provide instructions). Once activated, you can then upload the avatar to VRChat using the VRChat SDK as you normally would. Using the avatar in VRChat after a successful activation is fully allowed and expected.
- Single Account Usage: You are allowed to upload the avatar to one VRChat account (yours). Usually, avatars sold with this kind of protection are meant to be personal, private avatars (not to be publicly shared in VRChat). You should follow any specific usage guidelines the Creator gives – for example, many Creators ask that you do not make the avatar public or share the files.
- Seeking Support if Needed: If you encounter issues with activation or the avatar doesn’t work as expected, you are permitted (and encouraged) to seek help rather than trying to fix or bypass things yourself. You can contact the Creator (or Dummics, if appropriate, via the support channels) for assistance. For example, if your activation fails even though you bought the avatar, reach out so it can be resolved. Legitimate End Users will be helped to get their avatars working.
- Enjoying Updates: If the Creator releases updates or improvements to the avatar (and still uses the licensing system in the updated version), you as an End User can use those updates. The licensing system will usually continue to recognize your entitlement. The Creator or Dummics will let you know if any action is needed on your part (generally it shouldn’t require more than maybe re-importing the new version and it might auto-recognize you, or a reactivation if the system has changed). In summary, you’re entitled to keep using what you paid for, including updated versions, as long as they’re part of that product.
Prohibited Actions for End Users:
- No Sharing or Leaking: End Users may not share, redistribute, or resell plugin or any of its contents to anyone else. The Plugin is licensed only to you as the purchaser.
- One Account Only: You may not use the avatar (and its license) on multiple VRChat accounts. The License is bound to your unique VRChat user ID (and possibly your device through hashed identifiers). It’s non-transferable. That means you can’t buy an avatar once and then use it on multiple alternate accounts, nor can you give your copy to another person to use on their account. If you want it on a second account you personally own, you’d typically need to purchase it again for that account (unless the Creator explicitly allows something like this, but that would be outside this system’s scope).
- Do Not Bypass or Tamper: You must not attempt to disable or circumvent the plugin’s security measures. This includes things like: not editing the Unity project or avatar files to remove the licensing scripts; not using hacked clients or network sniffers to intercept or “fake” the communication with the license server; and not trying to use another person’s credentials or a dummy account to fool the system. Any attempt to crack the protection or trick the system is a breach of these Terms and will likely result in you losing access to the avatar (at a minimum).
- No Reverse Engineering: End Users must not attempt to extract, decompile, or reverse-engineer the Flowye Licensing System plugin from any avatar package. Taking the plugin code out of the Unity project, analyzing it to understand its internal workings, or trying to reuse it in other contexts without permission is not allowed.
- However, these restrictions are meant to protect the integrity of the licensing system and must be interpreted in compliance with applicable law. As per Italian Law No. 633/1941 , lawful reverse engineering activities carried out for security research (privacy concerns) are not prohibited by this agreement. Still, any attempt to bypass the license system, duplicate or redistribute the plugin, or interfere with its function remains strictly forbidden (including its analysis for this purpose).
- Follow Creator and VRChat Rules: Using the avatar in VRChat doesn’t exempt you from other rules. You should still abide by any additional terms the Creator set when you bought the avatar (like “don’t use this avatar for hate speech” or “don’t make public clones of it” etc.), as well as VRChat’s own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If you use the avatar in a way that violates the Creator’s terms or VRChat’s rules, that might prompt the Creator to ask Flowye to revoke your license as well. For example, if you were banned by the Creator or platform for misconduct involving the avatar, your access to the avatar through this system could also be terminated. (While this licensing system is mainly about preventing unauthorized distribution, we support Creators if they decide a particular user should no longer have access due to serious misuse.)
By following these rules, End Users will have a smooth experience and can enjoy their purchased avatars without interruption. If an End User violates any of the above terms, they risk losing their access to the plugin’s functionality, as described next.
Enforcement and Penalties for Violations
Both Dummics and the Avatar Creators are serious about protecting intellectual property and making sure the system isn’t abused. The Flowye Licensing System includes measures to detect and address violations. Here’s how enforcement works if someone breaches the Terms:
Detection of Violations: The plugin has built-in protective features that can detect certain unauthorized activities. For example, if an attempt is made to use an avatar without a valid license (say, someone got hold of the files illegally), or if someone tries to tamper with the plugin’s code or bypass the checks, the system may recognize this. In such cases, the plugin might automatically prevent the avatar from functioning (e.g., blocking the upload or usage) and send a report to the Plugin’s servers. The information reported is limited to what’s necessary for enforcement – such as the VRChat user ID involved and some relevant identifiers (in hashed form) to diagnose the issue. (See the Privacy Policy for details on what data may be collected; it’s essentially the same data used for license verification being logged for security.)
Investigation: When a potential violation alert comes in whether via the automated system or a manual report (e.g., a Creator reports a suspected leak) – Dummics could investigate. This might involve checking logs and data, such as confirming if a VRChat account that attempted activation was on the authorized list for that Avatar, or seeing if one license is suddenly being used by many different hardware IDs (a sign of sharing). We may also communicate with the Creator and the involved user (if known) to gather more info.
Temporary Suspension: During an investigation, Dummics reserves the right to impose a temporary hold to prevent further potential abuse. For an End User, this could mean that their ability to activate or use the avatar is paused – the plugin might block any new attempts from that user until things are sorted out. For a Creator, if there’s a serious suspicion (say, evidence that a Creator misused the plugin or allowed piracy), Dummics could pause that Creator’s ability to use the plugin for new avatars (and/or pause all current license checks for their content, in extreme cases) while looking into the matter. These suspensions are precautionary and can be lifted if the issue is resolved or explained.
License Revocation: If a violation is confirmed after investigation, Dummics may proceed to revoke the License of the offending party. This is essentially a termination of the License rights granted under these Terms:
- End User: If an End User is found to have violated the rules (for instance, they pirated an avatar or tried to crack the plugin), their End User License for that avatar will be terminated . The effect is that the plugin will permanently block that user’s ID from activating or using the avatar. Any License key associated with them (or any record of their purchase in the system) will be voided. The End User will effectively lose access to the avatar they tried to misuse (depending on the Creator’s Terms of Use). They would not be entitled to any refund from Dummics (and likely not from the Creator either, as this would be a breach-of-rules scenario, but may vary depending on eachC Creator’s rules).
- Creator: If a Creator seriously violates the Terms (an uncommon scenario, but for example, if a Creator tried to use the plugin in unauthorized ways or intentionally aided piracy), Dummics can terminate that Creator’s License for the affected avatar(s). This means the Creator is no longer authorized to use the plugin for those projects. Dummics could disable the license verification for those avatars entirely – which would render those avatars non-functional for all End Users until the plugin is properly removed or the issue resolved. This is a drastic measure typically reserved for egregious cases because it impacts paying customers; Dummics would likely do this only if, say, the Creator themselves was undermining the system (in which case, protecting users and content might necessitate it). Additionally, Dummics could refuse to grant that Creator any new Licenses in the future. Essentially, a Creator found breaching trust might be barred from using the system further.
Legal Action: In severe cases of violation – especially those involving deliberate theft of intellectual property or significant harm – further legal steps may be taken. This could include civil actions such as lawsuits for damages or injunctions to stop distribution and potentially reporting to authorities if laws were broken (for instance, if someone maliciously cracks and spreads the plugin code). Both Dummics reserves the right to pursue legal remedies.
Notification: In most cases, Dummics will notify the Creators of any violations that have occurred, typically via contact methods provided by the Creator during the license acquisition. End Users are not notified of violations, the system will simply block any further activation attempts or uses.
No Refunds for Violators: If your License (as a Creator or End User) is terminated due to a breach of these Terms, you will not receive a refund or compensation from Dummics. If the Creators specified a refund or compensation, it will be managed by the Creator itself as Dummics is not involved in Avatar sales.
Keeping it Fair: Enforcement isn’t about being punitive for its own sake – it’s about keeping the playing field fair. By enforcing these Terms, we help protect Creators’ livelihoods and ensure End Users who follow the rules get what they paid for without cheaters undermining the system. If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error (it can happen – perhaps something was flagged mistakenly), you can always contact Dummics to dispute or clarify the issue. We will review the circumstances and, if it was indeed an error or a misunderstanding, we’ll work to reinstate access or otherwise make it right.
Intellectual Property Rights
The Flowye Licensing System is a plugin developed and owned by Dummics . This includes the code, design, algorithms, integration methods, and any assets or scripts included with the system. It is protected by copyright and other laws. When Creators or End Users receive a License, they are granted permission to use the system in a specific, limited way – they do not own the plugin
- Plugin Ownership: As a Creator, you get the right to use the Flowye Licensing System inside one avatar project, but you do not own the plugin. The system remains the exclusive property of Dummics, even when it’s integrated into your Unity project. You must also treat the plugin and any related integration methods as confidential – you can’t share them with other developers unless explicitly allowed by your licens
- End User Usage Only: As an End User, you also don’t own the Flowye Licensing System. Your License simply gives you the right to use the plugin to activate and run your avatar. You cannot extract, reuse, or repurpose the plugin on your own.
- Avatar Content Ownership: All content in the avatar (models, textures, animations, sounds, etc.) remains the property of the Creator or original asset authors. Dummics does not claim ownership of your character, design, or files. The presence of the Flowye Licensing System in your avatar doesn’t change that – it’s only there to protect and manage access to the avatar, not to take any rights from you.
Note : Any additional scripts or assets provided by Dummics as part of the Flowye Licensing System are part of the plugin itself and remain Dummics’s property (or are third-party components used under license).
- Flowye’s Branding: The names “Flowye Licensing System” and any logos or visual elements are owned by Dummics . You’re allowed to mention the system to inform users (e.g., “This avatar uses the Flowye Licensing System”), but you can’t use the Flowye name or logo in your own branding or advertising without permission.
In short :
- Dummics owns the plugin.
- Creators own their avatars.
- End Users can use what they paid for, but don’t own the system itself.
No party gains ownership over the other’s work – we simply give each other permission to use what’s needed.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Flowye Licensing System plugin is provided by Dummics "as is" and "as available". By using this plugin, you accept the following points:
No Guarantee of Error-Free Operation
Dummics does not guarantee that the Flowye Licensing System will always function without errors, interruptions, or compatibility issues. The software may experience occasional problems, bugs, or temporary downtime, especially after updates to Unity or VRChat. While we actively work to maintain and improve the plugin, flawless operation cannot be assured.
No Implied Warranties
To the fullest extent allowed by law, all implied warranties are expressly disclaimed. This means we make no implicit promises about the plugin being suitable for your specific needs (fitness for a particular purpose) or having an average acceptable quality (merchantability). We also don't warrant that the plugin will completely prevent unauthorized use or that it will never conflict with other software or assets.
Creator’s Responsibility
As a Creator, you acknowledge that integrating the Flowye Licensing System into your avatar can introduce complexity. While Dummics provides assistance and aims for smooth integration, we do not guarantee compatibility with every possible avatar feature, unusual configuration, or third-party script you might use. You understand and accept that some adjustments might be necessary, and you use the system at your own discretion and risk.
End User’s Responsibility
As an End User, you acknowledge that successfully activating an avatar using this system requires you to follow certain conditions, such as:
- having a stable internet connection during activation.
- using the correct and supported versions of Unity and the VRChat SDK.
- following activation instructions accurately.
Dummics does not guarantee successful activation or proper functionality if these conditions are not met or if unauthorized modifications are used.
Jurisdictional Limitations
In some jurisdictions (states or countries), local laws may grant you certain warranty rights that cannot be excluded or limited. In these cases, this disclaimer applies only to the maximum extent allowed by your local laws. We do not intend to deny you any statutory rights you might have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
Limitation of Liability
By using the Flowye Licensing System, you agree that Dummics’ liability is limited as follows:
No Indirect Damages
Dummics will not be responsible for any indirect or consequential damages resulting from using the plugin. This means we aren't liable for things like lost profits, data loss, downtime, inconvenience, or costs of replacement solutions, even if problems arise from our software.
Cap on Direct Damages
Our maximum responsibility to you is strictly limited:
- Creators: Our liability is capped at the total amount you paid Dummics for the plugin license for the specific avatar involved, within the previous 12 months.
- End Users: We have no liability for the avatars sold as we only provide the licensing system to activate the product and not the product itself.
No Liability for Enforcement
If we enforce these Terms by blocking an avatar or revoking a license due to violations (like unauthorized sharing), Dummics is not responsible for any resulting losses or inconveniences.
Third-Party Issues
We’re not liable for issues caused by third parties beyond our control, such as VRChat service outages, Unity updates, or problems unrelated to our plugin. We also aren’t involved in disputes between Creators and End Users about avatar quality, refunds, or personal disagreements.
Consumer Rights
These limitations don’t override consumer rights protected by mandatory law. If local laws grant you additional rights (like protection from exclusion of liability for personal injury or gross negligence), these Terms respect those rights and limit liability only to the maximum allowed by your local law.
Release & Indemnity
If your actions (as Creator or End User) lead to legal claims against Dummics, you agree to cover our expenses. Specifically, you’ll indemnify Dummics from claims or costs that arise from:
- Content or assets you provided (e.g., copyright infringement).
- Misuse of the plugin or avatars by you or your customers.
- Any breach of these Terms by you.
In short, you agree not to hold us financially responsible for problems caused by your actions.
Changes to these Terms
Dummics may update these Terms occasionally (for new business models, clarity improvements, or legal compliance):
- Notice: We’ll inform Creators at least 30 days before significant changes, via email, Discord, or announcements.
- End Users: Important changes affecting End Users will be communicated through Creators or during avatar activation.
- Acceptance: Continuing to use the plugin or avatars after notice means you accept the new Terms. If you disagree, you should stop using the plugin or affected avatars.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms follow Italian law:
- Any disputes will be resolved exclusively by courts in Milan, Italy.
- Consumers outside Italy (e.g., within the EU) may have rights to bring actions locally under mandatory consumer protection laws; these rights are respected.
- We encourage resolving disputes amicably first. Please contact us directly if issues arise—we’re open to dialogue or alternative dispute resolutions like mediation.
Miscellaneous Terms
- Entire Agreement: These Terms are the complete agreement regarding the Flowye Licensing System, replacing any previous discussions or agreements.
- No Waiver: If Dummics doesn’t immediately enforce a provision, it doesn’t mean we give up our rights to do so later.
- Severability: If a court finds any term invalid, the rest remain valid.
- Assignment: You can’t transfer your obligations or licenses without our written consent. Dummics may transfer this agreement to a successor entity (e.g., through merger or acquisition), notifying users accordingly.
- Third-Party Rights: These Terms don’t grant enforcement rights to any third parties.
- Notices: You can contact us via the provided contact details. We’ll communicate important notices through your provided contact info (email or Discord announcements).
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 16 June 2025 (This Privacy Policy may also be updated from time to time; significant changes will be communicated, as noted below.)
This Privacy Policy explains how Flowye collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data in connection with the Flowye Licensing System plugin (“the Plugin”). We take privacy and data protection seriously and aim to be transparent about our practices.
The Plugin is used within the Unity Editor to enforce licensing on VRChat avatars. There are two types of users whose data might be processed through the plugin:
- Avatar Creators – who integrate the plugin into their avatars (and thus interact with Flowye as customers), and
- Avatar End Users – who purchase an avatar from a Creator and activate/upload it using the plugin.
This Policy applies to both categories of users and outlines what information we collect from each, what we do with it, and what rights you have regarding that data. The Privacy Policy is part of the overall Terms & Privacy document and should be read alongside the Terms of Service above.
In summary, we collect only the data needed to verify licenses and protect content , and we handle that data with care, security, and respect for privacy. We do not use your data for marketing or tracking beyond the licensing purpose, and we do not sell your information.
Data We Collect
We only collect the data necessary to provide and secure the Flowye Licensing System . We do not collect any unnecessary personal information.
For Avatar Creators:
- Contact details : Name (or business/brand) and email address. If we coordinate via Discord, your Discord username or ID.
- Purchase information : We never store your payment card details; payments are handled by secure third-party processors (like PayPal or Gumroad) and Creators. We only store data related to the license itself and its activation.
- Avatar project details: Name or reference of the avatar project(s) licensed, to track and support your protected avatars.
This information is used only to fulfill the purpose of protecting the products, provide support, and meet legal/accounting obligations. Access is strictly limited to Dummics and any essential helpers. We do not share your contact or billing info with unrelated third parties, except as needed for payment processing or legal compliance.
For Avatar End Users:
When you activate or use an avatar with the Flowye Licensing System, the plugin collects only the data needed to verify your license and prevent unauthorized use:
- VRChat User ID and Display Name:
We collect your VRChat account’s unique ID and display name during avatar activation. These are public identifiers, not sensitive information like your password. They are used to confirm you are a legitimate customer and link the avatar to your account.
- Device and Connection Identifiers (Hashed):
The plugin gathers technical data like your device’s hardware ID and your IP address at activation time. Before storing or sending, these are converted to non-reversible hashes. This lets us recognize repeated activations from the same device, but we never store or see the actual IP or hardware ID. If your email is provided by the Creator for purchase verification, it is also hashed.
- Activation Logs:
We log basic information about activation attempts: date/time, avatar ID, and success or failure reason (e.g., “user not authorized” or “already activated on another device”). This helps with troubleshooting and security audits.
No other activity or personal files are monitored or collected.
The plugin does not track your system, scan your files, or collect content or analytics unrelated to license checks. All data use is strictly for license verification and anti-piracy.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for purposes directly related to licensing and security . Specifically:
- License Verification:
To check that only authorized users can activate or use an avatar. For End Users, your VRChat ID is matched to the Creator’s sales records, and hashed device/IP data is used to prevent license sharing and piracy.
- Service and Support:
For Creators, your contact info is used for communication, plugin integration, support, and important updates. For End Users, data may be used to help troubleshoot activation problems if you contact support.
- Record-Keeping:
We keep a secure log of license activations and authorized users, which helps Creators confirm who has access to their avatars and allows us to audit or investigate any issues.
- Improvement:
We may analyze anonymous, aggregated technical data (like error rates or activation statistics) to improve the plugin. We do not use personal data for profiling or marketing.
- Legal Compliance and Protection:
If someone tries to bypass the licensing or breaks the Terms, we may use or share relevant data (like logs or user IDs) to enforce the rules, protect our system, and comply with legal obligations. Any sharing is minimal and only with the Creator or proper authorities if required.
- No Marketing or Ads:
We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or any unrelated purpose.
In short:
Your information is used only to run, protect, and improve the licensing system. We do not use it for anything else.
Legal Basis for Data Processing
We process your data in accordance with European data protection laws (GDPR) and similar rules in other countries. Here’s the legal basis for how and why we use your data:
- Performance of a Contract (Creators):
When you request the Flowye Licensing System for your avatar, we collect and use your data (such as contact info and project details) to provide and support the service. This processing is necessary to fulfill our agreement with you.
- Legitimate Interests (End Users):
For End Users, we collect limited data (like VRChat ID and hashed device info) to prevent piracy and ensure avatars are used only by authorized buyers. This protects both Creators’ rights and the fairness of the system. Data is minimized, anonymized where possible, and used only for licensing and security.
- Legal Obligations:
Sometimes we must retain or provide certain data to meet legal requirements, such as accounting rules or valid law enforcement requests.
- Consent (if ever needed):
We don’t rely on consent for routine data use, as everything we collect is essential to the service. If, in the future, any optional feature required your consent, we would ask for it clearly and you could opt out at any time.
In summary:
We process Creator data to provide our service, and End User data to protect against piracy and support license enforcement. We respect your privacy and only process data as allowed by law. If you have questions about the legal basis for any data, you can always contact us.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We keep your data confidential. We never sell or share your information for marketing purposes. We only share data in these limited situations:
- With Avatar Creators:
If you are an End User, your VRChat user ID and display name may be visible to the Creator of the avatar, so they can confirm who has activated their product. No private data (like IP addresses, hardware info, or emails) is shared with Creators—only your public VRChat identity.
- With Service Providers:
We use trusted third-party providers (such as SparkedHost for server hosting) to help run the licensing system. These providers only process data as needed to deliver the service, under strict security measures, and cannot use it for their own purposes.
- For Legal Compliance and Protection:
If required by law (such as a valid court order), or to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or respond to security threats, we may disclose relevant data to authorities, lawyers, or cybersecurity experts. In such cases, we limit what is shared to the minimum necessary and, where possible, use only hashed or anonymized information.
- Business Transfers:
If the Flowye Licensing System is ever sold, merged, or transferred to a new owner, your data may be transferred as part of the business, but the same level of privacy protection will be maintained. You will be notified of any such change.
- No Third-Party Marketing:
Your data is never shared with advertisers or used for marketing by anyone.
In summary:
We share only what is necessary to provide the licensing service, support Creators, and comply with legal requirements. All other sharing is minimal, controlled, and strictly limited.
Data Security
We take data security seriously and use several industry-standard methods to protect your information:
- Encrypted Communication:
All data sent between the plugin and our servers is protected using HTTPS (SSL/TLS). Sensitive data related to license activation is further protected with end-to-end encryption, so only you and our server can read it.
- Hashing of Sensitive Data:
Any private identifiers (such as IP addresses, hardware IDs, or emails) are hashed before being stored. This means we never keep these values in plain text, making it extremely difficult for anyone to recover the original information.
- Secure Storage & Access:
Our database is secured and not directly exposed to the public internet. Only Dummics (and, if ever needed, a trusted technical assistant) can access your data for necessary support or legal reasons. Access is strictly limited.
- Tamper-Resistant Plugin:
The Flowye Licensing System plugin code is obfuscated to prevent tampering or unauthorized modification. This helps protect both the system and your data from outside threats.
- Breach Notification:
If, despite our efforts, a data breach affecting your personal information were to occur, we will promptly notify affected users and authorities as required by law (such as GDPR), and take all necessary steps to address the issue.
In summary:
We use encryption in transit, end-to-end encryption for sensitive data, hashing at rest, strict access controls, and additional protections to keep your data safe.
Data Retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary for licensing, support, or legal reasons.
- Creators:
Your contact info, license, and transaction records are kept while you’re an active customer, and as needed for legal or accounting purposes (for example, invoices are stored for up to 10 years as required by law). If you stop using the service, you can request deletion of your personal contact data, but some information (like invoices) must be kept to comply with legal obligations.
- End Users:
License records (like VRChat ID, display name, and hashed info) are kept while your avatar license is active. Logs may be retained for up to 5 years for security and support. If an avatar is retired or you request deletion of your data, we will delete or anonymize it, unless we need to keep it for legal or technical reasons. Please note: deleting your data means you will lose access to the licensed avatar.
- Backups:
We keep encrypted system backups for a limited time (usually a few weeks), which are automatically deleted or overwritten.
We do not keep your data longer than needed, and all personal information is deleted or anonymized as soon as it’s no longer required.
Your Rights
As a user of the Flowye Licensing System, you have the following rights under GDPR and similar data protection laws:
- Access: You can ask if we hold your personal data and request a copy.
- Correction: You can ask us to fix or update any inaccurate information.
- Deletion: You can request deletion of your personal data when it’s no longer needed or if you no longer use the system. Note: if you request deletion, you’ll lose access to licensed avatars. We may still need to keep some records for legal or security reasons.
- Restriction: You can ask us to temporarily limit how we use your data (for example, if you dispute its accuracy).
- Objection: You can object to our use of your data based on legitimate interest (in which case, if we can’t justify continued use, we’ll remove you from the system).
- Portability: You can request your data in a portable format (like CSV).
- Withdraw Consent: If we ever process data based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time (currently, we do not rely on consent for any required processing).
You can exercise these rights by contacting us (see Contact Information). We usually reply within one month.
If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you can also complain to the Italian data protection authority ( Garante Privacy ) or your local authority. We encourage you to contact us first, and we’ll do our best to resolve any issues quickly and fairly.
Practical Note on Data Deletion and Bans
- If you request deletion, and your data is no longer needed for legal or security reasons, we will remove or anonymize it.
- If your license is revoked due to a rule violation (ban), we may keep a record of the relevant data permanently to protect the system and prevent abuse, even if you ask for deletion.
- Currently, there is no automatic expiration of user data. Old records are archived or deleted manually when possible and when no longer needed for system integrity.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements.
If we make any significant changes, we will notify Creators directly (for example, by email or Discord), and post a notice in our documentation or on Discord. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will always show the most recent revision.
For End Users, if a change directly affects your rights (such as new data collected or a change in data retention), we will ask Creators to notify their users, or we may display a notice in the plugin activation interface.
By continuing to use the Flowye Licensing System after changes take effect, you agree to the updated policy. If ever required by law, we will seek renewed consent for any changes that need it.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any updates.
